Tack själv! Även om jag inte är tillräckligt insatt i databaser för att förstå storheterna i detta var det intressant

Well we *did* mention it

The others we didn't do though. We had the URL on a board next to the speaker, but it wasn't a short one. I guess we could use an URL trimming service for it next time. It also does require you to login, which is probably a bigger obstacle to use it from a phone, really.

Not to keen on the dead tree version for obvious reasons, but I guess it might help with the number of people responding...

One thing you can do is create quarter-page sized surveys that people fill out and drop in a box on their way out the door. And when introducing the speaker AND when applauding a speaker at the end of the talk: *mention* that the survey is there for them to fill out, and also provide a short URL that people could easily type into a phone.

There is also a script in the Slony source tree by the name of slony1_extract_schema.sh that attempts to solve this problem. It works by copying the schema into a temporary database, dropping the replication schema, and then re-dumping the schema. Might be worth comparing.

Yeah, you can actually make it slightly faster using CTEs.

But it so happens to be that the function I cut it out from actually does some more stuff, so I didn't think of that at the time

(if you don't use a CTE for it, you'll create two scans of the table)

I guess this should be IF EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM ...) rather than SELECT *, and IIRC 8.4 EXPLAIN VERBOSE will show why

But thinking some more about it I guess I'd have written it in pure SQL.

Nitpicking apart, it's good to see pg people using some FLOSS stack, times are such that we should see a raise in PostgreSQL usage in Open Source products. And I think the project is ready for that.

As far as ODBC What about these ones -- I've been using these on 64-bit?

Had some finicky issues with this one:
http://code.google.com/p/visionmap/wiki/psqlODBC

-- this one ironically seems t work a little better though its older and more experimental:
http://www.geocities.jp/inocchichichi/psqlodbc/index.html

As described here:
http://www.postgresonline.com/journal/index.php?/archives/46-Setting-up-PostgreSQL-as-a-Linked-Server-in-Microsoft-SQL-Server-64-bit.html
